Caveat: our ponies are owned by a rugged gaucho of few words called Jose (what else!).  I haven’t WhatsApped him these photos, but the ensuing ‘perm’ on removal of plaits might have given us away!

Dear Monicos all, just because I don’t reply to all your travel posts does not mean I am not in TOTAL admiration of your exploits and sheer get up and go ! And the pretty amazing creativity of your daughters…I am thinking of those works of art in today’s chapter..
Question…is it not very painful on bare thighs to ride bareback…or even with a saddle ?!
The closest Tony and I have been to where you are was just over the River Plata ( Plate ? ) from B. A. Into Uraguay ( can’t spell )….so I know how flat it is !
Keep on carrying on…we love reading it all …….love, Mary ( and Tony xxxx

Answer: much better grip bareback with bare legs, but it’s a sweaty affair! So glad you are enjoying the posts and lots of love. Charlotte xxx

Absolutely love it, takes me back to the good old days of the Shetlands and “Thumper”! I take it that you used top quality conditioner, it really helps to get the tangles out! Yes, I can imagine that the gauchos were amazed and horrified.

What’s so lovely is how happy you all look. Keep them coming…………F

UTTER HEAVEN. That’s how I spent my youth, plaiting ponies’ manes and tails! I’m riding beside you in spirit x x x
