The Chasm of Doom
Directed by James, Duration: 5 minutes
The adventurers set off in our colourful camper ‘Diversity’ to explore the wilds of the Atacama. This mineral rich desert is one of the highest and driest in the world, packed full of llamas and telescopes. We faced howling winds, relentless sun, unbeliveable altitude and huge panoramic skies and above all else … we faced ‘THE CHASM OF DOOM.’
Skiing the volcano
Directed by James, Duration:4 minutes
This video shares the joy of powder skiing in Niseko, on the northern island of Hokkaido in Japan. The brutal siberian wind never fails to please by brining its daily dump of fresh powder for the four travellers to play in. Niseko is a beautiful resort, dubbed the Aspen of Asia and comes complete with it’s own in resort 1970s theme park. Only one word for that. Wow.
Scooter Diaries
Directed by James, Duration: 2 minutes
This video clip is of Robin and James’ scooter adventure up to the northern volcanos of Bali. Now a protected UNESCO geological site, the volcano crater is home to a farming community that lives and thrives in this special ecosystem. So much to look at when you are dodging lava boulders while getting overtaken by local ice cream peddlers on scooters.
The King of The Fish
Directed by James, Duration: 9 minutes
This longer video tells the story of our adventure to find the king of the fish. On our way deep into the Ecuadorian jungle we encounter torrential rain, savage sandflies, mosquitos the size of bats … and the stunning beauty of these remote “black waters.” Family Monico had to dig deep, and pull together for our most challenging quest yet.
A Day at School
Directed by Robert, Duration: 10 minutes
School is a big part of the cadence of Monico Family Travels. We are lucky to have Robert, our fantastic primary school teacher who up’ed and left the comfort of his school in Yorkshire to join us our our adventure. But what is school really like for Robert, Bella and Emily? This is a glimpse of school life in our “long stay” in Argentina where we settled down to live for 2 months.
Diving with Sharks
Directed by James, Duration: 2 minutes
Come dive with us at Kicker Rock, off the wild coast of San Cristobal island in the Galapagos. Don several wetsuits, sit back and enjoy these chilly waters which are home to friendly sea lions, hawksbill turtles, eagle rays, and the occasional Gozza fish. If anyone had told us there were hammerheads, we’d have stayed on the boat.
Thrills and Spills
Directed by James, Duration: 5 minutes
And we are off. With some trepidation we landed in Brazil, for the first few weeks of our adventure. To our surprise we were greeted by some of the friendliest, most relaxed, instagram loving, and thrill seeking people we had ever met. The wind never stops blowing on this beautiful sandy coastline, making it a mecca for kitesurfing and the whirling sand provides the perfect playground for thrills and spills.
