Adrenaline and Instagram

So as the charms of Jeri unfold, a slightly disconcerting dichotomy of genuinely adventurous adrenaline fuelled activities overlaid with a continuous barrage of posing opportunities becomes apparent. Today we hooned it around the dunes on a 70km Quad Bike adventure, with badly fitting helmets and jamming gears, tipping ourselves over the edge of precipices and and through engine skimming rivers, surviving whipping sandstorms, and suffering blistering heat………….stopping every 20 minutes for another pose! We posed on the top of the dune, in the mangroves (extra points for getting on the swings and thrusting your chest out and your head back), in front of the water, in the water, in the hammocks in the water……..you get the picture!

Street Art in Jeri

Jericoacoara is a cross between Koh Pha Ngan in the earliest days, Miami Beach…..and the Costa del Sol! We’ve enjoyed lots of fun street art, blinding sunsets (esp from the dune), a full lunar eclipse, some surprisingly incredible sushi (with an even more surprisingly drinkable bottle of brut), and a whole lot of people watching. We have succumbed to hair braids and temporary tats, all washed down with buckets of Skol (maize infused beer – surprisingly drinkable when very cold). We have mostly chilled here, but tomorrow will be hitting the dunes on quad bikes to rev it up a bit.

After saying farewell to the Schrauts 2 days ago, Jeri has been our first taste of traveling ‘a famille’. I think each and every one of us has felt tested (in a variety of ways), but we topped off tonight with endless games of Happy Families (thank you Hintons!) which hit the right message on a lot of levels!
